Igår skrev Chile historia: Den chilenska staten ska nu ge skadestånd åt alla de som har fallit offer för de illegala och korrupta utlandsadoptionerna

Igår beslutade det chilenska parlamentet i det närmaste enhälligt att anta resolution nr. 557 som innebär att landets president Gabriel Boric och dennes regering uppmanas att upprätta en Sannings-, rättvise- och skadeståndskommission för alla de som har fallit offer för illegala och korrupta adoptioner sedan 1950-talet och fram till 2000 när utlandsadoptionerna till västvärlden upphörde. Totalt röstade 136 ledamöter för resolutionen medan en ledamot röstade emot densamma och åtta ledamöter lade ned sina röster.

Från och med 1950-talet och fram till 1990-talet adopterades runt 20 000 chilenska barn till västvärlden varav runt 2200 adopterades till Sverige och ett stort antal av dessa adoptioner genomfördes illegalt och bestod i praktiken av rena kidnappningar, barnstölder och människohandel. Chile blir nu det första landet i världen där ett parlament har röstat för att ge skadestånd åt alla de som har fallit offer för den korrupta internationella adoptionsverksamheten och nu är det bara att hoppas att landets regering hörsammar uppmaningen.

Yesterday, the Chilean parliament almost unanimously decided to adopt resolution no. 557 which means that the country’s president Gabriel Boric and his government will be requested to establish a Truth, Justice and Reparations Commission for all those who have fallen victim to illegal and corrupt adoptions since the 1950s and until the year of 2000 when the adoptions to the West ended. A total of 136 members voted for the resolution, while one member voted against it and eight members abstained. 

From the 1950s and until the 1990s, around 20,000 Chilean children were adopted to the West out of whom around 2,200 were adopted to Sweden, and a large number of these adoptions were carried out illegally and in practice consisted of pure kidnappings, child thefts and human trafficking. Chile is since yesterday the first country in the world where a parliament has voted for compensating all those who have fallen victim to the corrupt international adoption business and it is now a matter of hoping that the country’s government heeds the request.
